born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1956.

He gained 1986 a Diplom-Tonmeister degree at the "Hanns Eisler" Higher School of Music in Berlin, Germany, were he studied sound engineering. He also studied musicology at the Escuela Universitaria de Música in Montevideo, Uruguay.

He is faculty of Musical Acoustics since 1988 at University of Uruguay. Since 1998 he has been acting as Director of the estudio de Música electroacústica, which he co-founded in 1997. There he lectures a variety of courses and seminars on subjects related to music and technology.

He has produced many recordings of popular and classical music, having been professionally active as a mastering engineer. Although he has also composed some instrumental pieces, his compositions have been primarily electroacoustic music, and he has participated in many multimedia performances that included poetry, dance, the plastic arts, theater, and video.

In 2000 he started a research project on the Uruguayan soundscape, founding the Soundscape Work Group (Grupo Paisaje Sonoro - GPS).
